I Handed Two Days of PC Troubleshooting to AI Agents | What Worked and What Failed

A PC stopped booting normally after a memory upgrade, so I handed two days of troubleshooting to ChatGPT and Claude Code: the role split, the rules, what worked, what failed, and a checklist.

The AI was a big help at cross-checking records and isolating the problem, and it failed when it suggested a BIOS change. What mattered most: check AI answers before using them, and prepare the way back before any change.

What these notes cover

  1. 01What was delegated

Which parts of the work an AI agent did, and which decisions a person made.

  2. 02What went wrong

Steps that failed when an AI suggestion was followed, and the detours, stay in the note.

  3. 03How it was checked

AI answers are not used as they are. Each note says what was looked at to check them, such as actual values and logs, and keeps verified facts apart from inference.
